Paris has the greatest number of cinemas of any city in the world. With almost 400 screens, over 700 films are shown in the city each year. If you are an incurable film-buff, you will find a theatre, big or small, to suit your tastes.

Furthermore the city has a number of specialist cinemas which show artistic films as well as mainstream. Be aware that cinemas change their playbill every Wednesday.

The cinema scene in Paris is constantly on the move.Film-buffs will find a number of events offering the opportunity to discover French and international films. For example, each year in spring, the city hosts the fête du cinema (cinema festival) with reduced admission prices thanks to the famous “passport”, which is valid for the three days of the event. In summer, take advantage of the “Paris summer districts” festival, when open air screenings are organised.
